Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

    Genre: Contemporary
    Release Date: December 2, 2010
    Source: RAK
    Format: Trade paperback
    Pages: 372
    Publisher: Speak
    Purchase: Amazon | Book Depository

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home. As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

    THOUGHTS

    My rating:

    Three words: SO. FREAKING. ADORABLE.

I'm in love with this book. In love with the characters, the writing, nearly everything about it. I just want to hug the book and read it again so I can fall in love with it the second time. I don't know why I didn't read this sooner, even if I've read a lot of raves about it! But at least I did, and OMG, I am SO glad I read this book. Also, thanks to Megan, who sent it to me as RAK. Thank you so much! :)

What I liked in Anna and the French Kiss:
    1. Um, EVERYTHING?
    2. The characters.
    3. They all have interesting personalities, except for the jerky ones. LOL. I hate those guys as much as the characters do. I especially love Anna's friends in France, I think I'd love to be friends with them too!
    4. Anna/Etienne
    5. Oh, I SHIP THEM SO HARD. Anna/Etienne FOR LIFE. I develop a hatred for anyone who separates them. You can't do that! They're made for each other!
    6. The writing.
    7. I think this is what made this book so fantastic! I know the plot doesn't seem so original, but Stephanie Perkins has a unique writing style, and she made it her own. I also like how she *slowly* made the characters' relationship develop, so that it doesn't seem rushed. It's very realistic. Even the kissing part. No funny, cliched descriptions. Everything felt real.
    8. The setting.
    9. Paris, France. The City of Light. The most romantic city in the world. Need I say more?
    10. The cover.
    11. Okay, so I think this might have been the reason why I waited so long to read this book, but while I was reading it, I also started to love the cover.
    12. EVERYTHING.

If you haven't read this book, go. Read it. Anna and the French Kiss was a wonderful contemporary novel that you guys should. Seriously. Read. The author also wrote another book which came out last September 2011, called Lola and the Boy Next Door, which I am so excited to read.

I loved this book too! I don't know why it took me so long to read it either. I loved Anna's train of thought - she was so relatable. Great review! I can't wait to read Lola either!

Everyone has raved about this one and even with my reluctance to read contemp I've been really wanting to read this one!

I've never read anything negative about this book, so that must mean something. I think I'm going to give it a try in the summer. Normally, this isn't really what I like to read, but in the summer, a nice book which plays in France sounds great :D
